During a lively Coldplay concert at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin, frontman Chris Martin humorously cautioned the audience before activating the kiss cam, just days after inadvertently spotlighting an alleged affair involving Astronomer CEO Andy Byron.
“We’re going to shine a light on some of you with our cameras and show you on the big screen,” Martin announced to the cheering crowd on Saturday, as seen in online videos. The 48-year-old singer chuckled, adding, “If you need to fix your makeup, now’s the time!”
The lighthearted moment came on the heels of an awkward incident at Coldplay’s Spheres World Tour performance at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, the previous Wednesday. Martin had zoomed in on what he believed was an affectionate couple, saying, “Check out these two!” as their embrace was broadcast to the audience.

However, the pair—later identified as Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot, Astronomer’s head of HR—reacted by hiding. Byron dropped to the floor, while Cabot covered her face and fled. “Maybe they’re shy, or maybe it’s an affair,” Martin quipped, drawing laughs from the crowd. He quickly added, “I hope we didn’t mess up there,” looking briefly concerned.Undeterred, Martin soon turned the kiss cam on another pair, playfully asking, “Are you two a real couple? Legit?”
The earlier moment went viral, leading to fallout for Byron. His wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, reportedly changed her last name on Facebook before deactivating her account. Online investigators uncovered that Byron became Astronomer’s CEO in July 2023, while Cabot, who is divorced, joined as head of HR in November 2024.
In a prior company statement, Byron had praised Cabot’s skills. “Kristin’s leadership and expertise in talent management and employee engagement are vital for our growth,” he said in November 2024. Cabot echoed the sentiment, emphasizing her role in aligning “people strategy with business strategy” and fostering collaborative workplaces.
This isn’t Byron’s first brush with controversy. He reportedly faced criticism at a previous company for allegedly berating employees, leading to resignations. Following the kiss cam incident, Astronomer launched an investigation, and Byron stepped down as CEO.
